Best Bulk SMS Service Providers in India

A dated comparison of bulk SMS providers by published rates, buying model, message types and channels, with “best for” picks instead of a single ranking.

By Ravi Kant, Founder & CEO, MetaReach Marketing · Updated

Disclosure: MetaReach Marketing publishes this page and sells bulk SMS. To keep it fair, we compare providers against the criteria below, use each provider's own published information, show where others are cheaper, and do not give an overall #1.

Quick answer

The best bulk SMS provider depends on your volume and needs. For a few thousand SMS a month, Fast2SMS and MSG91 list the lowest published per-SMS rates. From about 50,000 SMS a month, MetaReach lists lower slab rates. If you need an enterprise platform across many channels, Gupshup, Tata Communications Kaleyra and Route Mobile quote on request; Exotel suits teams that want SMS with cloud telephony, and Twilio suits developers sending across many countries.

How We Compared Providers

We looked only at information each provider publishes, checked between 12 and 28 October 2026. We did not run delivery tests.

1. Published pricingIs a per-SMS rate for India listed publicly, and what is it at different volumes?
2. Buying modelPacks, recharges, volume slabs or sales quotes, and the minimum spend to start.
3. Rate by SMS typeWhether promotional, transactional, service and OTP are priced the same or separately.
4. ChannelsWhether WhatsApp, RCS, voice or other channels are available from the same provider.
5. IntegrationAPI and documentation the provider publishes for sending and delivery reports.
6. DLT helpWhat the provider says about helping with entity, header and template registration.

Fast2SMS

Recharge from ₹100. The published DLT SMS rate is ₹0.25 per SMS on small recharges, falling to ₹0.11 for recharges of ₹6 lakh or more.

Why: lowest entry point among published rates. Watch for: lower rates expire after a validity period. Fast2SMS vs MetaReach

Best for self-serve developer packs

MSG91

SMS packs from ₹0.25 per SMS for 5,000 down to ₹0.16 for 9,62,500, plus GST, with personalised pricing down to ₹0.13 through sales.

Why: buy online and integrate by API. Watch for: rate depends on pack size. MSG91 vs MetaReach

Best published rate from ~50,000 SMS a month

MetaReach Marketing

Volume slabs from ₹0.40 per SMS at 5,000 down to ₹0.12 from 1 lakh SMS, plus GST, the same for promotional, transactional, service and OTP.

Why: lowest published rate at 50,000 SMS and above among providers that publish rates; DLT registration help; SMS with WhatsApp, RCS and voice. Watch for: higher rate than Fast2SMS and MSG91 at small volumes. MetaReach SMS pricing

Best for enterprise multichannel platforms

Gupshup, Tata Communications Kaleyra, Route Mobile

CPaaS platforms offering SMS alongside channels such as WhatsApp, RCS and voice. Gupshup also markets conversational AI products. India per-SMS rates are not published; pricing is by quote.

Why: broad platforms for large, multi-channel programmes. Watch for: ask for rates per message type, platform fees and minimum commitments in writing. Gupshup · Kaleyra

Best for SMS with cloud telephony

Exotel

A cloud telephony platform that also offers SMS, for teams that want calling and messaging with one provider. India per-SMS rates are not published.

Why: voice-first teams. Watch for: compare the SMS rate separately from telephony plans.

Best for multi-country developer APIs

Twilio

A global communications API that publishes India SMS pricing and separate India routing and sender requirements for domestic and international traffic.

Why: one API across many countries. Watch for: international and domestic India routes are priced and handled differently. Twilio vs MetaReach

Also evaluated: SMSCountry, an SMS API provider for bulk and OTP messaging in India (SMSCountry vs MetaReach). Textlocal is excluded because it published a notice that its India platform was decommissioned on 31 October 2025 (Textlocal alternatives).

FAQs

Which is the best bulk SMS service provider in India?

There is no single best provider for every business. Based on published rates checked in October 2026, Fast2SMS and MSG91 list lower per-SMS rates for small volumes, while MetaReach lists lower slab rates from about 50,000 SMS a month. Enterprises needing many channels often evaluate CPaaS platforms such as Gupshup, Tata Communications Kaleyra or Route Mobile, which quote on request.

Why is MetaReach not ranked number one on its own page?

MetaReach publishes this page and is one of the providers compared, so the page uses stated criteria and best-for picks instead of an overall ranking. MetaReach is named only where its published rates or features meet a criterion, and the page shows where other providers are cheaper.

Did you test delivery speed or delivery rates?

No. This comparison uses each provider's published pricing and product information. Delivery speed and success rates depend on route, operator, template category and time of sending, so run a small test with your own templates before moving traffic.

Do all bulk SMS providers need DLT registration?

Yes. Businesses sending commercial SMS in India must register their entity, sender headers and message templates on a DLT platform, whichever provider they use. Providers differ in how much help they give and whether they charge for it.

Is Textlocal still available in India?

Textlocal published a notice that its India platform was decommissioned on 31 October 2025, so it is not included in this comparison. Existing users should confirm their account status with Textlocal directly.
